Această carte se afla de luni bune pe lista mea de lecturi și, după ce am parcurs mai multe cărți în limba română, am decis să citesc și una în engleză. Ca absolventă de Litere (specializarea română-engleză), am o pasiune pentru limba engleză și încerc să mă familiarizez cât mai mult cu literatura în original. Lectura în engleză nu este un lucru ușor: necesită atenție sporită, concentrare și cunoștințe solide de vocabular și gramatică.

Romanul Frankenstein spune povestea tânărului cercetător Victor Frankenstein, pasionat de descoperiri științifice neobișnuite, care reușește să insufle viață materiei moarte, creând o ființă nemaivăzută până atunci. Totuși, rezultatul nu îl mulțumește: creația sa este un monstru hidos, cu trăsături inumane și un aspect care provoacă teamă și respingere.

Cu toate acestea, ființa creată de Frankenstein posedă sentimente înalte, bunătate și dorința de a trăi în armonie cu oamenii. Abandonat de Creatorul său și respins de societate, monstrul se simte singur și neînțeles, iar suferința și izolarea îl împing către acte de violență, începând cu membrii familiei lui Frankenstein. Victimele și evenimentele precise le las să le descoperiți singuri, pentru că surpriza și tensiunea fac parte din farmecul poveștii.

Citind această carte, mi-am amintit de Dracula lui Bram Stoker, o altă carte clasică engleză care m-a fascinat și pe care o recomand cu drag. Frankenstein este plină de mister, suspans și te ține cu sufletul la gură, dar oferă și teme profunde: idealurile umane înalte, responsabilitatea creatorului față de creația sa și limitele ambiției atunci când visurile devin prea îndrăznețe.

Dacă sunteți pasionați de literatura clasică și de clasicii englezi, vă recomand cu căldură Frankenstein. Este o poveste despre curaj, obsesie, compasiune și consecințele neprevăzute ale dorinței de a depăși limitele naturale ale omului.

ENGLISH REVIEW

This book had been on my reading list for several months, and after reading several books in Romanian, I decided to read one in English as well. As a graduate in Letters (Romanian-English specialization), I have a passion for the English language and try to familiarize myself as much as possible with literature in its original form. Reading in English is not an easy task: it requires heightened attention, concentration, and a solid knowledge of vocabulary and grammar.

The novel Frankenstein tells the story of the young researcher Victor Frankenstein, who is passionate about unusual scientific discoveries and manages to give life to dead matter, creating a being never seen before. However, the result does not satisfy him: his creation is a hideous monster, with inhuman features and an appearance that evokes fear and rejection.

Yet, the being created by Frankenstein possesses noble feelings, kindness, and a desire to live in harmony with humans. Abandoned by his Creator and rejected by society, the monster feels lonely and misunderstood, and his suffering and isolation push him toward acts of violence, beginning with the members of Frankenstein’s family. I will leave the specific victims and events for you to discover, as surprise and suspense are part of the story’s charm.

While reading this book, I was reminded of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, another classic English novel that fascinated me and which I highly recommend. Frankenstein is full of mystery, suspense, and keeps you on the edge of your seat, but it also explores profound themes: lofty human ideals, the responsibility of a creator toward his creation, and the limits of ambition when dreams become too audacious.

If you are passionate about classic literature and English classics, I warmly recommend Frankenstein. It is a story about courage, obsession, compassion, and the unforeseen consequences of the desire to surpass the natural limits of humanity.
